Make your next project a guest room to share with friends or family over the holidays! If you’ve got an unused room in your house, and a little downtime, make the most of it. Having a cozy guestroom in your house means loved ones can stay with you for the holidays, making them even more special. And, with a few simple touches, you can make their stay memorable.
Start with the essential: a bed, a night stand with lamp, and a dresser. Your goal is to make the room feel like a luxury hotel room so details are important. Paint one wall a deep, rich and vibrant color. Make that bed as comfy as possible with extra pillows and blankets. Add a decorative headboard and artwork over the bed. Make sure there’s a bench or small table for their suitcase, and extra empty hangers in the closet.
Before your guests arrive set folded towels and washcloths on the bed for them. Add little touches like mini bars of soap or bubble bath. Add a card to the nightstand that has your Wi-Fi password and other important phone numbers or directions for the area. Lay a key to the front door here as well, so your guests can come and go. Fill a small basket with snacks for the top of the dresser, and add a small coffee maker if you can. Other extras might include fresh flowers, candy, books and magazines.
