Halloween tricks and treats for your family can be a lot more fun than just carving a pumpkin and making cookies! There’s a whole world of spooky activities and delight waiting for your kids:
Indoor Candy Hunt
Much like an Easter Egg Hunt, you can hide Halloween candy inside your home and have the kids hunt it down. This is great for very little ones who go to bed early, or if it is particularly cold outside this Halloween.
Wrap a Mummy
See how fast you can wrap mom or dad up like a mummy using toilet paper! If you have more than one kid, it can become a race.
Squishy Ghost Faces
Every kid gets a cookie sheet and a big squirt of shaving cream. Then everyone squishes it around to make ghost, and monster faces over and over.
Spooky Story Time
Have a few favorite Halloween books? Pre-Trick-or-Treating, gather ‘round for spooky story time in costume. One parent or an older child read Halloween stories for the smaller kids with the lights off, using a flashlight.
Paper Bag Lanterns
Before the big Trick-or-Treating outing, decorate small paper lunch bags like ghosts or pumpkins or monsters. Simply add a battery powered mini-candle and set them alongside your front walk so kids can navigate to your porch more easily. Pro-tip: add some sand or rocks in the bottom of the bags to hold them steady.
